Reservoir Simulation Engineer – Muscat, Oman
This is a full-time, permanent position
Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide day to day technical support and assistance on CMG’s reservoir simulation software products, for our customers based in Oman. Initial and ongoing training will be provided but the successful candidate must also be self-motivated to learn about the theory and application of these reservoir simulation software tools. Once a certain technical level has been achieved you will be expected to assist in support activities at CMG client offices; conduct training courses as per your level of expertise; and assist in consulting projects as required. You will report both to the Regional Team Lead, Customer Success and Consulting. The position represents an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to learn and actively participate in a small expert team environment with the backing and opportunities of a larger global organization.
Location:
Based at CMG’s representative office located in Muscat, with expected onsite presence at a range of CMG’s customers in Muscat.
Knowledge & Skills:
A key requirement for the successful candidate is:
- A good working knowledge of reservoir simulation software e.g. CMG’s IMEX, GEM, or STARS; Eclipse; or other similar products.
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Work as part of a small local team, and to work collaboratively with individuals from other teams across the globe.
- Able to communicate effectively and clearly with others
- Be self-motivated, require minimal supervision, and have excellent communication skills both in written and verbal English.
- Use standard MS Windows and associated office productivity software tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- It would be advantageous, but is not a requirement, for the candidate to have any of the following additional capabilities:
- Working knowledge of production engineering software e.g. Hysys; Prosper; GAP; Pipesim; or other similar products.
- Experience of using PHREEQC; UTCHEM; or other similar types of software.
- Experience of uncertainty analysis and optimisation.
- Experience of chemical EOR methods.
- General experience in Windows or Linux operating systems.
- The ability to program in one of the major programming languages.
Education:
BSc in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related degree, MSc preferred.
Experience:
Although this is a junior role, all experience levels will be considered and starting salary will be based on the overall experience and skill set provided. However, the successful candidate should have previous experience in a Reservoir Simulation related discipline as this is a key requirement for this position.
Other Requirements:
Should hold Omani citizenship and have the ability to live and work in Muscat, Oman.
