The differences between the three CMG’s simulators (IMEX, STARS, and GEM) for modeling polymer injection and the different phenomena that take place during the process such as: adsorption, residual oil saturation reduction, and the effects of composition, salinity, velocity and temperature on polymer solution viscosity will be shown.
After completing the course, the participants will be able to make conversions directly from laboratory data or between simulators to use the best simulator that suits the type of fluids in the reservoir under study, a compositional with EOS modeling (GEM), a compositional, thermal and chemical of K-value constants (STARS) or a black oil (IMEX).
Oscar, a Staff Reservoir Simulation Specialist, has over 18 years of industry experience working with CMG and national oil companies. Oscar's expertise includes clastic and carbonate fractured reservoirs, simulation of chemical EOR projects, CSS and steam flooding. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Petroleum Engineering and a Master of Science, Petroleum Engineering, both from the National University of Mexico.
