Payroll & Total Rewards Specialist

CMG is seeking an experienced Payroll and Total Rewards Specialist to join our People & Culture (P&C) team. This is a full-time position. The P&C team is responsible for all programs, processes and policies related to employee onboarding, engagement, performance management, total rewards and learning and development for employees at CMG.

The successful candidate will work as part of the CMG People & Culture team, under the direction of the Manager, People & Culture including close interactions with the CMG P&C, Finance and Accounting teams as well responding to employee specific queries related to payroll matters.

The ideal candidate is an experienced payroll professional that also has experience in administering LTIP programs, board of director compensation, and benefits invoice reconciliation. Key Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

  • Processing and balancing semi-monthly Canadian payroll for approximately 130 employees
  • Preparing Dubai payroll for approximately 5-6 employees monthly
  • Sending changes, reviewing and approving 8 monthly international payrolls prepared by third party EORs and payroll processors
  • Reviewing and reconciling benefits invoices for the US and Canada monthly
  • Preparing monthly AD&D invoice for self-reporting
  • Reviewing and reconciling monthly Group RRSP/401K contributions
  • Managing Group RRSP/401K administration and annual testing/reporting as required
  • Managing annual WCB renewal and worker’s compensation renewals for the US, the UK, UAE
  • Managing annual benefits renewals for Canada, the US, EMEA, and Latam
  • Processing annual salary increases and bonuses paid in cash and shares
  • Managing third party LTIP administration and preparing LTIP grant, exercise and vesting paperwork and payments
  • Preparing annual compensation survey for submission
  • Analyzing compensation survey results with existing pay bands and employee compensation and providing recommendations for annual adjustments to pay bands
  • Assisting with preparation of Executive, Highly Compensated Individuals, and LTIP reporting for annual Info-Circular to shareholders
  • Participating in the implementation of new equity administration or payroll software

Education

  • Post-secondary education (diploma, certificate or bachelor’s degree) in a related field preferred.
  • Completion of PCP certification through the Canadian Payroll Association is a requirement.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to prepare, process and balance Canadian full cycle payroll
  • Ability to review and reconcile benefits invoices including wellness plans
  • Ability to manage administration of Group Retirement programs (RRSP, 401K)
  • Ability to review international payrolls to confirm that changes are properly calculated and month over month changes are correct
  • Ability to prepare templates in excel for ongoing use of payroll and benefits reconciliation; i.e. gross up calculations, pro-rating, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel; experience with Power BI is an asset
  • Ability to prepare cost breakdowns by department and GL for accounting
  • High comfort level with new systems; tech savvy
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong customer service approach to communicating with employees and other teams
  • Excellent command of the English language both oral and written
  • Ability to research an issue, come up with options and provide recommendations for action
  • Dedicated to process improvement, standardization and best practices

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of full cycle Canadian payroll experience using ADP
  • Minimum 3 years of experience reconciling benefits invoices for accuracy and with payroll deductions and taxable benefits
  • Experience setting up hypothetical tax and certificates of coverage for ex-pats with international shadow payrolls an asset
  • US and other international payroll experience is an asset
  • Experience administering LTIP programs including exercising of stock options and vesting of RSUs, PSUs, etc. is a requirement
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors HRIS is an asset
