Course Overview and Content

Computer Modelling Group is pleased to present a two-day introductory course teaching hydraulic fracturing treatment design. In this course the application of fracture mechanics, DFIT analysis, step down analysis, limited entry design, log analysis, perforating to treatment design, and the integration of treatment design with reservoir simulation, will be discussed in detail. These are the main tools that are typically used to provide the necessary input data for designing hydraulic fracturing treatments

CMG  is also excited to introduce an easily applied workflow for improved fracturing treatment design and profitability utilizing an integrated combination of fracture and reservoir simulation modelling.  This is approached from two perspectives:

  • The first is to utilize an imported GOHFER fracturing simulation into a reservoir model as a means of better predicting fluid phase behavior and flow in unconventional reservoirs. .
  • In the second approach we show how capability within the CMG software provides an independent means of modelling fracture creation and predicting production from complex fracture growth. This allows the reservoir model to be used as a predictive means of optimizing the fracturing treatment pumping schedule.

By integrating reservoir modelling with fracture modelling, we can better optimize our fracture treatment design which ultimately leads to better profitability.
