Technical Writer

CMG is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our R&D team. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Technical Writer will be pivotal in crafting clear, comprehensive, and accessible documentation for CMG’s multiple reservoir simulation products. Responsibilities include generating user manuals, help files, technical guides, API documentation, and online help content. The successful candidate will excel in making complex technical information understandable for users at all levels through both text and visual aids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and technical support to grasp product functionalities and features thoroughly.
  • Create and maintain exhaustive documentation for each product, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, and more.
  • Produce engaging instructional content for our online help center, such as tutorials, FAQs, and how-to guides.
  • Regularly update documentation to reflect product enhancements, new features, and technological advancements.
  • Attend product development meetings to gain insights into products and contribute towards usability.
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure product messaging consistency across documentation and other user interfaces.
  • Enhance written content with diagrams, charts, and videos using various multimedia tools and platforms.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education
Education in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Knowledge & Skills
    Demonstrable experience as a Technical Writer in technology or engineering fields, supported by a strong writing portfolio.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in documenting complex technical concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools and software, such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and reservoir simulation technology is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Self-driven with excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Be customer focused, learn about the business to help bring value to our customers
  • Team focused with a positive attitude, must be self-motivated, and have very good time management and communication skills both in written and verbal English.

Experience
Experience with Madcap Fare or similar software tools.
